Christopher Ries from Columbus, Ohio created this sculpture at
Schott Glass Technologies Plant in Durea, Pennsylvania. The purest
man-made crystal in the world, it is frequently used in optical
equipment, in space exploration, lasers, fiber optics and semi-conductors.
Ries fashions extremely slippery pieces of crystal, cutting polishing,
sandblasting and etching them to achieve simple, elegant forms.
